1. ‘wish’ dalam kalimat di atas menyatakan sesuatu yang bertolak belakang dengan kenyataan yang ada.
2. ‘wish’ dapat juga digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang diharapkan terjadi dan masih berkemungkinan terjadi. ‘wish’ yang demikian dikombinasikan dengan could, would atau might.
Contoh:
(a) I wish he might buy me a present.
(b) I wish he could win the race.
(c) I wish they would come on time.
3. I hope I pass the test mempunyai arti I haven’t taken it yet. I hope I passed the test mempunyai arti I have taken the test.
